It was the “blue supermoon” on Monday — “a celestial occurrence that combines two events: a supermoon, which is when the moon is closest to the Earth, and a blue moon, the third of four full moons in a single season,” according to NPR. It was a rare cosmic event which usually happens only once every ten years.
I was sitting by a campfire with an Elder and a few friends. We came together for a gathering of release — something that I hope to ritualize with every full moon. Our Elder gave us each a piece of paper, and we took a moment of shared silence to write down a list of five things we wanted to let go of and compost.
